Hans Ochs, MD, professor and physician at Seattle Children’s Hospital and Research Institute in Seattle, holds the Jeffrey Modell Endowed Chair in Pediatric Immunology Research. On September 14, 2014 at the 3rd annual Grapevine Awards event, he was given the Jerry Award, named for Gerald T. Nepom MD, PhD and Director of the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason. Internationally renowned for work in immunodeficiency and autoimmunity he has a 40 year service to children with immunological diseases.
On the same night Molly McCabe, founder of Molly’s Fund based in Portland, Oregon received the A3 Focus Award recognizing extraordinary spirit, dedication and community support while living with autoimmunity. McCabe was about to embark on a career in opera when she received a diagnosis of Lupus. Molly’s Fund targets genesis, treatment and management of Lupus and offers support to the 2 million women in the U.S. and Canada affected by Lupus.
